Volunteer

The objective of an administrative volunteer is to assist the Smilezone Foundation staff with any administrative and office related tasks at hand.

Tasks and responsibilities include, but are not limited to

• Answering the phone and transferring phone calls
• Light filing, organizing and documenting
• Research for Smilezone install designs
• Researching and creating Smilezone documentation (i.e. portfolio)
• Assisting with special event preparation
• Assisting with marketing and communication initiatives

Skills and Qualifications

• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Maintain confidentiality of information learned about Smilezone Foundation, it’s partners and/or clients.
• Friendly and calm demeanor to match the work environment
• Possesses strong knowledge of MS programs such as Word, Excel and outlook
• Able to work independently or with minimal supervision
• Ability to generate new ideas and be creative with the tasks at hand
• Experience in an administrative role considered an asset

Time commitment

• Available 1-2 times a month
• 3-4 hour increments

The objective of a community engagement volunteer is to assist the Special Events Coordinator at community initiatives to provide awareness about Smilezone Foundation. Community Engagement events can be festivals, trade shows and event partnership opportunities.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to

• Attending community engagement events
• Facilitation of activities with large or small groups
• Provide information to the community regarding the mission and objectives of Smilezone Foundation
• Research for upcoming community engagement events and unique opportunities in the local area (i.e. GTA & surrounding areas)
• Generate new and innovative ideas for how to engage the community

• Passionate about creating and sharing new ideas to help grow and develop community awareness for non-profit organizations

The objective of a Creative Support Volunteer is to share their skills with Smilezone Foundation such as photography at special events, graphic design for Smilezone materials, artistic skills for web design etc.

Responsibilities will vary depending on the Creative Support you are interested in providing.

The objective of a Special Events Volunteer is to help prepare for and attend the Smilezone Foundation major special events; the 24-hour Celebrity Hockey Tournament and the Annual Celebrity Golf Tournament.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to

• Assisting with preparation tasks for the event
  • Solidifying donors
  • Confirming sponsorships
  • Delivery and pick up of items
  • Auction solicitation
  • Recruitment of players or attendees of each event
• Helping with set up and facilitation of the event
  • Registration support
  • Kidszone support
  • Silent auction set up
  • Managing activities at the event
• Assisting with awareness and promotion of the event
  • Communications on social media and additional platforms
  • Graphic creation and delivery

Time commitment

Smilezone Foundation hosts 2 events a year; Hockey is in April and Golf is in July. This position is flexible with the time commitment as there are varying levels of involvement. The amount of time contributed can be determined by ones availability and desired involvement.

The objective of a 50/50 volunteer is to sell 50/50 tickets at partnered sporting events to raise funds for upcoming Smilezone builds.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to

• Educating the community on Smilezone Foundations mission and objective
• Selling 50/50 tickets at sport games
• Operate electronic 50/50 technology and software
• Collecting funds and distributing 50/50 tickets to purchasers

• Experience handling merchandise

• Ability to multitask and work effectively in a busy setting

Requirements

• MUST be 18+ years old to apply
  • AGCO requires anyone selling or buying lottery tickets to be 18+ years of age.
• Have access to transportation to and from the arena

• Training of electronic technology will be provided on site by the service provider

Time Commitment

Smilezone Foundation hosts between 10 and 20 50/50 games per season (November to April). We are seeking volunteers who are interested in attending 50% or more of the games. The games typically occur in the evening or mid-day on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The overall time commitment per game is 4-6 hours.
