Smilezone Foundation was held its Grand Opening event for the new Zone at Mount Sinai Hospital on Thursday May 7th 2015, just in time for Mother’s Day! The new Zone was within the Hospital’s Slaight Family Labour & Delivery Unit, transforming the existing Family Waiting Room. Attendees’ at the opening event included: Smilezone Board Members, Mount Sinai staff, Board Members, clinical leaders and of course, expecting families!
Almost 7,000 babies are born each year at Mount Sinai Hospital, making the Labour and Delivery Unit’s waiting room a busy space, where families await the arrival of their newest members. The transformation of this waiting room included: colourful wall paints; an interactive, sensory-equipped kids table; cartoon murals; and a children’s bench. This new room is available to all families of patients from every area of the hospital, truly designed to “put smiles on children’s faces.”
