RANDY LENNOX APPOINTED AS OFFICER OF THE ORDER OF CANADA

December 18, 2024 – Her Excellency the Right Honourable Mary Simon, the Governor General
of Canada today announced Randy Lennox as a recipient of the Officer of the Order of
Canada in recognition for his longtime contribution to Canadian culture. Randy is the first major
music label executive in history to receive the Officer level distinction, the country’s highest
civilian honour.

Randy is being honoured for his impact on so many Canadian creatives by working with, and
developing, over 100 Canadian artists including the internationally renowned Shania Twain, The
Weeknd, Drake, Shawn Mendes, Justin Bieber, Bryan Adams, Nelly Furtado and The Tragically
Hip.

“It is a privilege to work in the creative business that I love. This recognition was not something I
could have imagined, and I am humbled to receive this honour,” said Randy Lennox. “None of
this would be possible if not for the incredible artists, partners, and teams I have had the
pleasure of working alongside throughout my career.”
Randy Lennox is a Canadian music and media executive and is the founder and CEO of LOFT
Entertainment, which was initiated in 2023 and offers the world’s leading artists, creative,
strategic services across music and film. Under his leadership, LOFT, in partnership with OVG
Canada, just launched Departure, an international music and film conference that will take place
in May 2025. He previously served as president and CEO of Universal Music Canada and
president of Bell Media, Canada’s largest music label and media company respectively.
At Bell Media, Randy built partnerships with Pinewood Studios, #iHeartRadio, HBO Max, Starz,
BNN Bloomberg as well as original content for television and film production. He also rebranded
and relaunched Crave as a stand-alone streaming platform. During Randy’s tenure at Bell
Media, their productions garnered over 200 Canadian Screen Awards as well as an International
Emmy.

Randy is the talent chair and executive producer of Canada’s Walk of Fame and served as chair
of the Massey & Roy Thomson Hall’s Board as well as the Banff’s World Media Festival and
Smilezone.

He is widely recognized as an integral part of the philanthropic community and has made a
significant strategic and financial impact on a number of Canadian charities.
Established in 1967, the Order of Canada recognizes outstanding achievement, dedication to
the community, and service to the nation. As an Officer of the Order, Randy joins a distinguished
group of Canadians whose contributions have enriched the social, cultural, and economic fabric
of the country. The investiture ceremony will take place at a later date where Randy will formally
receive the insignia of the Order of Canada.
